Join local band The Bennys as they celebrate the move from first Wednesdays to first Thursdays at The Blue Note Grill! As one of the restaurant’s most prolific in-house bands, The Bennys have brought entertainment to legions of customers. Now, see them for yourself this Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
North Carolina music veterans, Rebecca Newton, Barry Gray, Wes Collins, FJ Ventre and Mike Babyak, joined musical forces to create the folk/Americana band The Bennys in 2016. Each is a songwriter, singer and/or player with gobs of experience and notoriety.
The band performs originals and carefully curated covers from artists such as Steve Earle, Richard Thompson, Gretchen Peters, Patty Griffin, and fellow North Carolina musicians. Their vocal virtuosity along with guitars, mandolin, lap steel, bass, and interesting electric stringed instruments reflect strong energy and all around stellar musicianship.
The Blue Note Grill is one of the Triangle’s (Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill) premier live-music venues, complete with a full-service restaurant and bar. The original Blue Note Grill opened in a non-descript strip mall in 2010 on the outskirts of Durham. Their musical reputation and Southern-style menu soon packed the house, as they quickly outgrew the tiny end space. In June of 2015, the Blue Note Grill opened and expanded in to a new 6,000 sq ft space in the downtown Durham historic Central Park District, where it now remains.
