Celebrate All Things Mother Earth at the Earth Day Festival

Enjoy a day filled with an eclectic mix of music, food, hands-on environmental education activities and much more! Festival goers will enjoy a showcase of environmentally friendly businesses and organizations sharing information and resources with the community. Attendees can browse and shop from our local, hand-made green goods, crafts and visit the stage to hear and see more.

Participants are encouraged to “go green” by biking, walking, skating, carpooling or riding DATA and Triangle Transit to the festival. Festival goers can come out and see some of the latest hybrid vehicles on the market. Members of Durham’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission will host a valet bicycle parking service. Located near the corner of Hunt St. – ride in and check your bicycle for free! Get your bike checked for safety and learn how to change a flat as well.

Kids will have a blast while engaging with the natural world! Featuring hands-on activities from: Music Explorium, McPhetridge Family Farm, Durham County Library, Family Literacy and Community Services, and Child Care Services Association. Also included will be the Bookmobile of Durham, City of Durham Fire Department, Face Painting, and Schoolhouse of Wonder.

Come say "Hi" to the chickens! McPhetridge Family Farm is providing a service and program for consumers to try out chicken ownership. They provide everything needed for the rental of the chickens, a movable chicken tractor, and feed for the rental period. McPhetridge Family Farm raises chickens, goats, rabbits, and livestock as they strive to become self-sufficient while teaching others to do the same.
