Performing Live, Progressive Jazz, the John Ray Trio Is a Must-See This Thursday Night

John Ray Trio is made up of three – and sometimes four, five, or even six – of the most virtuosic musicians in the artistically fertile northern southeast region of the United States. Performing what they label live, progressive jazz, the John Ray Trio is set to put on a great show this Thursday night at Arcana Bar and Lounge!

John Ray Trio is predominantly composed of John Daniel Ray, Jonathan Greene, and Michael Kinchen. Lead musician John Daniel Ray revolutionizes the bassist paradigm with his harmonically dense six-string bass technique. He also incorporates computer elements into the sound and control of his instrument.

Jonathan Greene (drums) is widely respected among other drummers as one of the foremost experts on polyrhythms and polyrhythmic training. Michael Kinchen (piano) is a federally registered superhero, and with a wink of his eye and the tip of his cap, he can change one chord to another and impose any number of rhythms at will.

Every player is trained and seasoned in classical and jazz music and has worked in the music industry as top sidemen and session players. With this project, they combine their deep knowledge of performance, dance grooves, and musicality while pushing boundaries in every way with their compositions and on their individual instruments.

Don’t miss John Ray Trio live at Arcana Bar and Lounge this Thursday night! The show begins at 8:00 and will extend until 11:00 p.m.
